9 mo check up
Sorry it has been so long since I updated. Dean has been sick with a cold for the last week so there hasn't been much to report. It looks like Kyle will be getting the job in Denver and will commute for awhile until it's more financially feasible for us to move. Other then being sick, Dean has been doing well. He loves to play and make noise with his toys. He's figured out that most of them make noise when shook or banged together. He also loves tearing apart his bed after naps. We've found the bumper undone a number of times now. Dean did have his 9 mo check up on Mon. (a little early for insurance purposes) and weighed 21 lbs 12 ozs (75%) and was 29 in long(75%). His head is still big at 47 cm (90%)! Mom decided that he was long over due for his big boy car seat and went out and got it that day. I think he likes sitting up more and seeing the world, but misses his shade that he could pull down when he wanted to block out the world.

Valentine's Day.
We had a very low key, but oh so fun Valentine's day. Due to the constraints of our finances at the present we had to forego our usual trip to the Melting Pot or MacKensie's or the like. Instead, Kyle made us a delicious steak dinner at home and bought me the Settlers of Catan card game (which is for two players). We had a blast playing it all night. FYI to Erin and Liz, Kyle also got me the Settlers expansion set so now we can all play and keep our marriages intact! :) All in all it was a great day. And to my sister who thinks that Valentines is too commercialized...all I have to say is it doesn't have to be. Kyle knows I don't really care for a box of chocolates, but have been craving chocolate mousse for over a year now, so he made me chocolate mousse with rasberries and whipped cream. Valentines is a day we set aside to celebrate love in all it's forms. How you celebrate it is up to and reflective of you. Even if you don't have a romantic love interest you can take time to reflect on the love of family, friends, and most especially God. We as Christians should be the biggest proponent of any day that celebrates love as Jesus said that is how the world would know that we are followers of Christ- by our love.
Thank you Grammie for my Valentine!

Dean's First Superbowl!
I worked this past weekend, Superbowl Weekend, so Kyle got to dress and take care of Dean. They had quite the boys weekend and I'm pretty sure Dean is already hooked on football. Here are a few pics.

Sin's Nature
It's days like today that make me think it's easier to be a secular humanist. Secular humanists of course believe that we are born without sin, pure and innocent and then the world corrupts us. It's a much easier view to take as it doesn't require us humans to take any responsibilty for our actions. However, that's not my world view. I believe that man is born with a sin nature and is corrupt from birth. Today I got to see that displayed in my 8 month old son. He has developed a love for Cheerios and wanted them this morning instead of the cereal I made for him. He ended up in time out in his crib for awhile. It's hard to believe that such a cute sweet boy can have such a temper. However, as my good friend says...we should never be surprised by sin, wherever we find it. Thank God for His spirit that makes us good.

Videos of Dean
I finally figured out how to get movies off our camera. Unfortunately our camera isn't set up for audio, but the pictures are still cute. The first is one of Dean at about 3 months. He was talking away and I wanted to capture all of his cute facial expressions. The second one is of him today "walking" around his Roundabout toy. He was too enamored with the camera to really get going, but we've seen him set some land speed records in it. :)

Dean's Room is finally finished!
After nearly a year of planning and procrastinating, our son's room is finally finished. The ceiling fan is up, the real blinds are hung and Great Aunt Diane came and painted Dean's walls. Here's some pics of her work. Isn't it amazing?

Bath Time
We had the good fortune that Daddy was home the other day while Dean was getting his bath. So finally we are able to post some pics of the cute boy in the bath tub. All children must have some of these right?
