A Christmas to Remember

I expected this to be a very memorable Christmas and all, what with it being Dean's first. I just had no idea HOW memorable. Our little buddy started getting sick two days before Christmas and by Christmas was not wanting to eat and working hard to breathe. Therefore we ended up in the ER at 12:30pm on Christmas day. A few breathing treatments and four hours later Dean was doing much better and went home with a diagnosis of bronchitis. Wouldn't you know that Dean's first real illness would land him in the ER and on an oral and inhaled steriod! As if that wasn't enough, that night our plumbing backed up and the next day we had to move out of our house until it could get fixed. We ended up staying two nights at my sister-in-law Liz's house (Thank you!) while Kyle dug up our yard and the sewer line so that it could be replaced. By the 28th we were back in our home and set about cleaning up the mess. Dean is now doing better though still requires a couple of breathing treatments a day. We finally opened all of our Christmas presents last night and are enjoying another rare snow day. I've included some pics of our "Christmas season". You can see that even when he is not feeling good he is a happy boy. We know that inspite of our "rough" week we are blessed and are so grateful for all that God has done in our lives over the past year. We are surrounded by great friends and family. Like the saying goes "He is not poor who has friends"! Happy New Year!

The Blizzard that wasn't(well at least for us)

As I have been browsing friends and family's websites, I have seen all these pictures of the snow we got the past few days. Now you may wonder, why hasn't Terra put up some pictures of fantastic drifts? Well, that's because we don't have any. We got maybe 6 inches at our house and no drifts. Amazing what a little geography can do. We live right next to a big bluff and in a valley so we get sheltered from a lot of storms. Colorado Springs is such an interesting city as it covers many different topographies and thus can have many different types of weather all within a few miles of each other. Kyle's parents who live about 7 miles from us had to dig out their trucks! At our house it looks like just another normal snow storm. We of course didn't go anywhere as everywhere was shut down. So we've enjoyed some lazy days at home. I am now ready to get out of the house though and be productive. Merry Christmas to all!

Six month check up

I wasn't feeling great today, so Kyle did me a huge favor and took Dean to the doctor for his check-up. Of course Kyle didn't realize the importance in remembering all of Dean's stats so he didn't write them down. That being the case the stats I will list here are only Daddy's best guess. Anyway, I knew Dean was eating well but I had no idea just how well!! He's 19 lbs 2ozs and 28.5 in long. Gulp! He's in the 95th percentile for height and the 75th percentile for weight. The doctor is happy with his growth stating that it is proportional at least! Just for a frame of reference Dean's cousin Ella (who is 6 mos older) was 15lbs 11ozs at her 6 mo checkup and Dean's cousin Caeden (who is one year older) was 14 lbs 5 ozs and 26in at his 6 mo visit. I have a feeling that Dean will be bigger then both Kyle and I some day.

Family Vacation

Well, now that I've completed all the requiste post-vacation duties (laundry, clean, unpack) I can sit down and post the pics from our trip. We had a great 4 days in Winter Park. We didn't go sking as neither Kyle or I are really into it. It was also too cold to spend much time outside. It never got above freezing so the time we did spend outside with Dean was short. We hung out by the fire, played games, and soaked in the hot tub. Dean did great and we are getting more adept at traveling with him. He is working on his 3rd and 4th teeth already (they seem to come in twos) and can sit up by himself albeit for only short periods of time. I'm continually in awe of how quickly he is growing and changing. He fits easily into our family as he is a ready laugher. We have this little game we play where I'll start laughing and then he'll start laughing. When I stop to take a break or look away he'll make a noise to get my attention and then we both start laughing again. There is nothing more soothing to the soul then the pure hearted laugh of a baby! Enjoy the pics.
